At the heart of Kathari Era is a symbol inspired by Shiv and Shakti — a meeting of two complementary energies.
The upward and downward triangle represent strength and softness, stillness and creation. Their intersection reflects a balance between tradition and innovation.
For us, the symbol is more than a mark. It represents the spirit behind Kathari Era: heritage carried forward through human hands, with intention, creativity and purpose.

Where it began
Kathari Era is founded on the belief that true luxury begins with time.
Born from katha — story, and kalakari — skilled craftsmanship, our name reflects pieces shaped by human hands and carried through generations.
We bring these living crafts into modern life through pieces made slowly, consciously, and with enduring purpose.

Founders Note
Our founder was born and brought up in Rajasthan, India, surrounded by a rich heritage of traditional crafts, talented artisans and generations of skilled craftsmanship.
With a strong direct connections with the artisans and heritage family, he grew up witnessing the beauty of handmade work and the dedication behind every piece.
Kathari Era was born from a desire to bring these one-of-a-kind crafts into contemporary living while honouring the artisans and respecting their craft and keeping the stories behind it alive.
What makes this journey even more special is that Kathari Era was built during one of the most transformative chapters of our lives. We were building this dream while expecting our first child, and brought it to life after our little one arrived. In many ways, Kathari Era has grown alongside our family — carrying with it the same values we hope to pass on to our child: to value what is made with care, to respect where it comes from, and to cherish things that are made to last.
We believe that when we choose handmade, we are not simply choosing a product. We are choosing a craft, a story, a livelihood and a legacy.

Every Kathari Era piece begins with a human story.
Behind every stitch, print and carefully finished detail is an artisan whose knowledge has been shaped through years of practice and generations of tradition.
We believe the hands that create our pieces should never disappear behind them. We seek to build relationships grounded in respect, recognise the value of time and skill, and ensure the people behind the craft are fairly valued for what they bring to the world.
By giving traditional craftsmanship a place in contemporary life, we hope to do more than create beautiful pieces. We hope to help preserve the knowledge, dignity and livelihoods that allow these crafts to endure.
Because when we honour the maker, we honour the legacy.

We believe beauty should exist with respect for the world around it.
Our approach begins with thoughtful choices — natural fibres where appropriate, plant based organic dyes, small-batch production and eco-friendly packaging designed with a life beyond the moment of delivery.
We look for value in what already exists. Fabric remnants can find new expression through patchwork and smaller creations; handmade paper can become journals; and even our thank-you cards are created to return to the earth, carrying wildflower seeds that can be planted when their first purpose is complete.
We do not believe everything needs to be made anew. Sometimes, the most thoughtful creation is giving something a second life.
For us, caring for the earth is not a statement. It is a way of creating.

At Kathari Era, craftsmanship is only the beginning. We believe a piece worthy of being cherished should also be made with care, considered materials and attention to every detail. From the fabric and finishing to the smallest component, we take the time to examine what goes into each creation — because quality is not something added at the end. It is part of how a piece is made.
Thoughtful Materials
We choose materials with purpose, favouring natural fibres and carefully considered dyes and finishes where appropriate. We seek components that offer durability, comfort and longevity, while remaining mindful of their impact.
Considered Craftsmanship
Every piece passes through careful inspection for construction, finishing and detail. Handmade does not mean unchecked — the individuality of craft is preserved alongside a considered standard of quality.
Built to Last
From sturdy YKK zippers to reinforced construction and carefully finished details, we pay attention to the elements that determine how a piece performs over time. Where appropriate, products are tested for durability, functionality and wash care before they reach you.
Responsible Production
We create in small quantities, allowing each piece the time and attention it deserves rather than producing simply for volume.
Suitable remnants and offcuts are given another purpose wherever possible, finding new life through patchwork, smaller creations and other applications.
Because when something is made slowly, it deserves to be made well.
